GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
Quite a mouthful isn’t it? It’s a new, worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres including strict social, ecological and toxicological guidelines, without the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.
Why is it important?
GOTS is an independent certification of organic materials, considering the processes used to produce them. GOTS prohibits the use of all chemicals that don’t meet stringent criteria for toxicity and/or those which are harmful to humans and environment; regulates the treatment of any wastewater and eliminates the use of harmful processing techniques. In turn it ensures safe sourcing and production procedures as well as a safe end-product.
