Merchandise That GROW's Your Business

Seeded Paper - Superb Merchandise Opportunities

We were blown away when we discovered this fresh and original idea for promotional merchandise. The basic premise is really simple – create a unique paper that has flower seeds embedded into the paper. They say that the best ideas are often the simple ones, and in a nutshell, this idea is as simple as that!!

Our special Eco seed-paper is hand made and uses a variety of post-consumer materials. When you plant the paper in a pot of soil or outside in a garden, the seeds in the paper germinate and grow into plants. The paper itself will biodegrade and so no waste will be left behind, only flowers, herbs or even veggies to benefit the Earth.

We think the seeded paper idea works at it’s very best, when it’s used with an item that is going to be thrown away anyway – a disposable piece of paper or card, only now, instead of it becoming rubbish, it will actually do something positive – grow flowers.

After having a team chat here at RT Promotions, our collective ‘top five uses for seeded paper’ are:

Table Name Cards

This is the card that is used to identify where each guest is going to sit – very popular at weddings, but also used extensively at corporate hospitality functions.
You know you are sat on table ten, and then when you reach the table, you search the table name cards to see precisely where you are sat. These cards are generally printed with the ‘name of the event’ – and individual names are frequently handwritten onto them. But, what do your guests do with the cards when the event is over? My guess is that 95% of them leave them behind on the table – to be swept up with the rest of the rubbish. Imagine turning the card over, to read your ‘eco’ message, explaining that it wasn’t rubbish, but would grow wild flowers?

Delegate Name Tags

These are the cards that hang from the end of a neck lanyard, commonly used at conferences, seminars and trade shows – and which have no purpose whatsoever after the event is over. Nobody keeps their own name card do they? Once again, you can turn this negative waste into a positive, and put a smile on folks faces at the same time. We have worked with many event organisers to do exactly this and, even supply the ECO Friendly lanyards to go with them – everything from recycled plastics lanyards to bamboo, hemp and plant silk lanyards.

Retail Swing Tags

These are the cards that retailers hang from their products. Some simply state the brand name, others carry a marketing message, but all of them have another thing in common. Once the purchase has been made, the swing tag is simply thrown away. We have been working with multiple retailers, across a mix of trade sectors, who see this as a superb marketing platform to shout about their eco credentials and to put a smile on their clients faces. We have a range of ‘off the shelf’ shapes/sizes, and can provide single-sided print, or both.

Seed Paper Wristbands

You’ve seen the wristbands at all of the summer festivals, but also, frequently used by corporate clients for VIP access. A lot of events now feature a rubbish bin by the exits for you to dump your discarded wristbands – but YOURS will be retained, taken home, and at some point, planted. All this, from a piece of merchandise that usually gets thrown away.

Coffee Mug Sleeves

These are the card/paper sleeves that you see on takeaway coffee mugs, they slip over the mug and stop your hands getting burnt by the hot coffee. On the one hand, this is a superb area to place your marketing message as it will reach a vast audience, but, bear in mind that the sleeve will always get thrown away. The mug may be kept and re-used, but the sleeve is going to go in the bin, so using an ECO alternative with a positive message and a happy outcome ticks a lot of boxes.
